It’s a tough life

I think he tried but couldn’t get any more comfortable…

His nose still shows signs of the catfight (?) he had 2 weeks ago.

Today I feel like:

Busy days are coming ahead.
First, today my friend Coronita Cerveza (it’s just a nickname) is coming to San Francisco after her visit to Minneapolis, MN. Hoping to see her tonight after their visit to Alcatraz.
So, while waiting for them in the city we’ll be at the Bay Area Happy Hour organized by Becker and will hopefully meet some interesting people to hang out with. Anyone reading if interested check out the details on the [b] school blog and please join.
On Friday I was planning to join Coronita and her friends on their “trip” around San Francisco in the cable cars. I haven’t had time to do it since I moved here and if I don’t do it now I never will. I lived in Rome for more than 3 years and I never visited the Coloseum because I always thought that I was just there, I could go anytime. And if some friends hadn’t dragged me into Vatican City I wouldn’t have seen that either. Oh, well, I was not a photographer at the times, just a Computer Engineering student working part-time to cover expenses. Anyways… So, I’m going to spend the day with them around San Francisco. I love this city. I’ll then have to abandon them around 5PM though, take the BART and head back to my place for a shooting at 6.
On Saturday, in the morning, I’m headed up north in Marin County for a baby photography session with Isabelle and Sophia (1-year old twins), I’m so exited, never had a session with twins before. After the session we’re joining Coronita again and go eat some place nice (any suggestions? she doesn’t like seafood, only meat… please advise).
On Sunday Markino’s mom arrives at SFO from Italy… and we are all hoping she smuggles some good italian food in!!! :D :D
Ok, that’s all…
Leave some love people!!

Up and Running
Posted on June 11, 2008
My new computer is up and running and I’m currently blogging from it (for this occasion I removed the dust from my degree in Computer Engineering and assembled a powerful machine that will save me a lot of time in post-production work). Now my hubby (who was the one that really did this job) is jealous and wants a computer just like mine. I’ll put it in his wishlist. Although, before I get to the point of having it totally ready there is a loooot to do.
To do list for today:
-Calibrate monitor
-Install all the fonts/scripts/other for Photoshop
-Install all software I may need to use
-Personalize desktop and shortcuts
-Copy all favorites and stuff from the other computer
-Have lunch (ok, this was not in the list, but I’ll go have lunch as soon as I blog this)
-some more stuff which I don’t remember; when I’m hungry my brain goes in stand-by
Another thing that is “up and running” today is the new Guest Bedroom. The home-delivery guys came earlier in the morning today; who follows me on twitter already knows I had a bad wake-up as I could neither sleep after they were gone, nor get up as my brain refused to select a state and deadlocked somewhere in the middle between the two. Not the best morning ever… but it’s getting better. Fortunaly I don’t have any photoshoots today.
I was left with boxes upstairs and I couldn’t wait to have the bedroom finished… I managed to assemble this Full Bed all by myself. I remember when we got our bedroom’s furniture a couple of months ago… that King Bed was a hell of a heavy weight. Lucky for me, this guest bed is not even half of it.
So here are some pics of the before (shot at 11:33AM) and after (12:00PM). I still have to hang the mirror on the wall, put some curtains on and add some art on the walls… but for now this is the best this room has seen since we got this house (it has been empty). And maybe this room is going to be the set for some photoshoots I have in mind ;) stay tuned for that.

I had to “sign” this pictures with the first font available… I don’t have my logo on this computer yet.

Meows
Posted on June 6, 2008
I was thinking that, a part from a quick snap on this post, I’ve never introduced you to my gorgeous cat, Filippo. To say the truth, he’s more than a cat, he’s like a kid (since we don’t have any yet… but… mumble muble… we’re thinking about it - I’ll leave this subject to another time).
I get to spend most of my day with Filippo… well, mostly it’s him who decides if we should stay close or in 2 separate rooms of the house (I really don’t have a choice when his intentions are to come and sit in front of my keyboard and on top of my Wacom tablet). He obviously knows how to get attention. So, as a revenge I bug him with my camera! I’m like his personal paparazzi. In the beginning he used to run away but soon understood that he could run but could never hide from me, so he surrended. He’s learned to pose, and when he’s had enough he just lays down and closes his eyes and opens them once in a while to check if I got the idea or not. :D

This is him in front of the door that goes into our backyard… he even tries to open it, but ehm, it’s too heavy even for a 12pound smart cat.

Don’t take me for crazy; I’ve even learned his “language”, I now recognize all types of “meows” and know for sure what he wants and he wants it.
The only problem I have with him is: where do I leave him if I want to go somewhere for the weekend? :( Back in Italy the solution was simple, my mother-in-law kept him… Maybe I should hire a local mother-in-law…

What the HEC
Posted on April 13, 2008
Hey everyone… I will start this new blog with a personal project. I documented a normal dinner-preparation time at our house. The king of our kitchen is my husband, Marco. He does all the cooking and he loves it. Aren’t I lucky? ^_^
I’ve had people asking me if he is a professional cook. He would like to, but for now he’s a computer guy (it’s how I name all sys admins and engineers). Maybe when he retires from computers he’ll open his own small restaurant.
But let’s see what we are having for dinner. I see whipping cream… I already like this dinner plan!

…and peppers. Love peppers.

Man at work!

We still lack a lot of things in the kitchen (see empty spice holder on the counter). They didn’t let us pack the huge collection of spices we had back in Italy when we moved here… Apparently no food of any kind should come into the states. Whatever, we’ll just go shopping!

When I saw this house for the first time I said: Wow, this is big and gorgeous. I love the space. I want this house. My husband was just ok.
Then he saw the kitchen, and 6 gas burners and he said: Wow, I want this house.
Well, we all have our needs I guess.
p.s. Can you find the intruder?

Guess who wants to be the chef’s assistant!!
This is our third family member, Filippo. We brought him here to the Bay Area all the way from Milan (Italy).

The house chef is not really sure how Filippo can help with the cooking… can’t understand why!

What do I do in all this? A part from taking pictures and bugging everyone?
I get rid of the trash… I’m the Mrs. Tidy&Clean. Sometimes I turn into Mrs. CleanFreak ^_^

Where are whipping cream and peppers going? On the pasta, of course. Since we come from Italy, guess what we love eating…

At this point I’m starting to feel dizzy… that pepper smell is really making me even more hungry than I already am.

And here is where the “story” ends. From this point on I was too busy eating to take pictures! Dinner was delicious. Slurp! ^_^
