Some days

Posted on July 28, 2008

Some days are just like this… stuff happen.

I’ve been a bit absent from either this blog or Photolicious (which I just updated with a new pic, by the way!! go check it out and leave some love) lately but here’s the thing: after a month long visit, the in-laws got on a plane today, and back to Italy. They were a big help around the house, but somehow I couldn’t concentrate on my work very well. From today everything’s back to normal… the good and the bad things.

This is gonna be a very lazy evening: the two of us, the sofa, a nice movie and some snacks. I’ll come back tomorrow to blog some pictures I took during Saturday’s bbq lunch. Stay tuned!!!

Back from Vegas

Posted on July 18, 2008

I’ve been back for a couple of days. Had to catch up with emails, mail, prints I had to deliver and finally today I have a couple of minutes.

Not much to say about Vegas:

- I have no pictures to show, didn’t even get my 5D out of the bag. Sorry, I was busy doing else :)
- I didn’t relax, AT ALL
- I didn’t even get a little tan poolside (it was hot as hell, but cloudy all the time)
- Last but not least, I didn’t get filthy rich (I can’t deny I hoped for it!!)

Huh, this came out as “what I didn’t do in Vegas”. :P

One thing is a bit weird though: we had one of the most delicious sushi dinners in the middle of the desert. I don’t even wanna know where that tender fresh fish came from, but Shibuya is a great place (your bank account may have a stroke but you’ll have an absolutely great experience).

If was to get married again

Posted on July 10, 2008

I’d sooo have my dress designed by Sabine Valente.

This October I will be headed to Milan for a couple of photoshoots with some former clients. One of those is Sabine. She was the first one to believe in me when I was just starting out professionally last year. Infact, the shoot we did (July 2nd 2007) for last year’s bridal collection was my first photoshoot ever in a studio, with a model that wasn’t myself. Sabine is a client, but most of all she has become one of my dearest friends.
She is so talented in what she does. And I’m not saying this because she is my friend. My wedding dress was gorgeous (of course!!! I designed it myself), but had I know her before my wedding… ok, I won’t think of it. I just love her style, elegant, simple, with tiny important details that make every wedding dress unique.

Here are some shots from that first photoshoot in studio:

Linda has an incredible bone structure. And I love how she poses naturally, she’s quick and very professional!

 Brochure cover:

Tearsheets (which of course I am very proud of; my scanner sucks):

Don’t be hard on me, this was my first time!!! ;)

Internationally speaking

Posted on July 3, 2008

I just had a conversation with a virtual friend of mine (we never had the chance to meet although we’ve know each other over the internet since almost 10 years now, back when ICQ had just started out and I was a young computer geek teenager); He’s in Italy, about to dine in Turin… and was asking me about the italian dishes on the menu. At last, I did, apparently, help him decide what to order for dinner.

Rajeev says (12:33 PM): small world. An indian from uk is asking for italian food help from an albanian in usa

Talking about food, I love taking pictures of what I eat, although I don’t do it often.
** Once Markino was determined to photograph every creation of his coming out of the kitchen and I think he even started with a couple of pictures but then gave up… I’m trying to convince him to take it seriously.**
Getting back to my food photography. I’ve decided to start taking pictures when we dine out in fine restaurants because the plates look soooo good apart from tasting delicious of course. You already saw some pictures I took at a restaurant in Carmel, a couple of weekends ago.
Last weekend we were lunching in San Francisco, at the Steps of Rome. I know, it’s a place for tourists, located in what’s left of Little Italy… But we like the guys (all italian) that run the place and the food is good!

This was my grilled shrimp & calamari on a bed of mushrooms and some green stuff which I don’t eat because it’s too healthy :P

Markino’s fried calamari… half were eaten by me

After talking about italian food with Rajeev and posting these seafood shots I’m really hungry…

Weekend pictures

Some pictures taken at the Marin Art & Garden Center:

I love yellow poppies:

The rose garden smelled really good!

I didn’t understand what this thing was for but it looked cool…

A couple shots taken in San Francisco the same day… from the car window…

Gotta get back to my editing. Working on the photoshoot with Ledi.
